Meet Your APPMA Staff
Marian T. Thielsen
The next time you stroll past a banner or sign, or perhaps notice your name prominently displayed through a sponsorship at Global Pet Expo, it will be helpful to know the person behind all these fantastic marketing opportunities is Marian Thielsen, APPMA's Director of Marketing & Communications! Global Pet Expo sponsorships are actually just part of all the responsibilities that make up Marian's day-to-day activities.
Marian is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of APPMA's association-wide marketing communications plan, designed to promote and advance APPMA, Global Pet Expo and the pet products industry. This includes managing various aspects of marketing communications, website development and maintenance, publication production, sponsorship sales, the annual tradeshow pressroom and e-mail marketing. These efforts have garnered attention from such prestigious media outlets as HGTV, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Animal Planet, USA TODAY, The Wall Street Journal and Prevention Magazine to name a few. She also assists in overseeing the Association's PR firm, and manages relationships with APPMA partners.
Marian has been with APPMA for more than five years and previously served as the member services coordinator. She has nearly a decade of marketing experience and holds a Bachelor's Degree in marketing from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Marian is an active member of the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE), the American Marketing Association (AMA) and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Marian lives with her husband John and two cats, Violet and Eddie in Norwalk, Conn. A good book or a fun game of tennis and family and friends fill Marian's free time. She is also an avid shopper and a self-proclaimed "Hello Kitty" devotee!
